Synopsis
“He has nothing but the freedom to breathe.”
In a cold winter night, twilight shines through an old laundry store.
A-Jie (male, 40) stands in this steamy little room, ironing, hanging countless clothes he just washed.
For A-Jie, this is no doubt a brand new beginning, just like the clean clothes in front of him.
The boss Tsai-tzai (male, 60) lives with his niece Hsiao-Chih (female, 18), who has Polio, in this house together, running laundry business. He washes clothes with helpers, while Hsiao-Chih is in charge of the counter and laundry orders.
To A-Jie, Hsiao-Chih is a silent person, except dealing with customers, she doesn’t talk much. You can’t really notice her disabilities when she’s sitting behind the counter, but you can tell from her eyes that she’s gloomy.
Sometimes during the silent nights, A-Jie would be woken up by the noise of metal crutches, then he would be sleeping with the sound of water coming from the bathroom.
He knows it’s Hsiao-Chih, with her leather shoes under a long skirt, which are old and shabby.
Just like a phantom, she is used to do things while everyone’s asleep, that’s the only way she could face her own disabilities along…
